I have a game called Lego Racers and I'm making it portable. I also have SMART Technologies applications (like SMART notebook etc.) and I'm making that portable. Can I legally make it a beta app so that others can download it from this website?

You can only redistribute if the apps are open-source really at the moment. I would say make a launcher only release then that way you would be safe

I don't know how to make a launcher though. Is there a website that will show me how?
When you mean SMART notebook, is it made from the same company that makes the SMART board for schools? If this is the case, i don't think you can legally distribute those applications.
And the lego's thing i am not sure about. (Cause i don't know the app)
Na na na, come on!
Okay, then i'll finish making LEGO Racers portable (I'll have it done by next week) and post it on this website. Hopefully someone will tell me if its legal.
So no you cannot distribute it.
Not sure if it's also illegal for personal use though.
I bought it from my school in 4th grade. I doubt that its illeagal to use it for myself. Oh well... so long for that project...
You are basically allowed to convert all freeware (open source, anything under the GPL license).
And distribute it freely as long as you don't charge for it or claim it as your own.
You are not allowed to convert or repackage anything without permission. Most open source licenses (GPL, LGPL, etc) give you that permission. Trademark guidelines may not permit you to keep the branding intact though (see Mozilla trademark policy). No commercial software will let you redistribute and 99.9% of freeware won't let you without the express consent of the publisher.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
So, the workaround would be to publish the launcher only, along with the instructions on what files to add to make it portable, right?
I guess that even if the user don't have the permission to do it, who is going to know if he keep it for himself?
EDIT: here is an example.
Smartbook software uses several drivers so it won't work well at ALL portably
iLike Macs, iPwn, However you put it... Apple is better ^_^
"Claiming that your operating system is the best in the world because more people use it is like saying McDonalds makes the best food in the world..."
I know... I was trying to get around that and make it FULLY portable... so... how would i make a launcher anyway?
ALSO... could I make Safari (the browser) Portable? How would I get permission?
You can't get around drivers.... It has to have them.
And Safari is owned by Apple but you are never gonna get permission from them because it is another big company like Microsoft or Adobe, and you can't even make a launcher because of all the copyright stuff...
