You are looking for file asscociations right?
Well, as far as I know that involves registry entries, which is what portable apps try to avoid.

i am I not sure... but if that goes against portable than I'd rather not mess with it.....
I suppose you could add create a menu entry that passes the filename you want to open as a parameter to PortableOpenOffice.exe... the only downside is that you lose the filetype-specific icon (you'd get the OO.org icon instead).

to get a example of how to set it up. the icon does not really bother me
Just point a menu entry at PortableOpenOffice.exe, and then under that entry's properties, put the full path to the file in quotes (minus the drive letter, obviously), in the "command line parameters" box (under the General tab). Set the Home Directory to \ so you can be sure the file path will be relative to the root of the drive.
