Hi,
I just wanted to ask if there is a tool (preferable with PortalbeApps) with which I can keep & open some encrypted files on my Stick.
Thanks for any help,
Irwin

A bit curt there Daniil

Sorry for that, Tim. As a moderator, you probably see these double posts every day, but I'm not quite as tolerant of them yet. I'll try to be less brief next time.
I'd say Toucan as it does not require admin rights on the workstation, but you have to operate it manually. If you feel confortable doing this, go for it.
Other than TrueCrypt, there is also FreeOFTE which could be interesting. It use the LUKS (Linux Unified Key Setup) system that Ubuntu use for its full-disk-encryption implementation.
use 7zip and create an encrypted zip or 7z archive with crypted content.
u can encrypt several files and folders.
when u want to encrypt big files and u dont want it takes to long (because of compressing) u can choose the compression level "store"
ther is a portable apps version of 7z, thats most easy and most compatible version
another way is to use gpg, but has some risk because u r key would probably be saved on the same usb-stick.

Personally, I use TrueCrypt. TrueCrypt has a portable version (when you run the installer, choose "extract" instead of "install").
On the root of my USB flash disk, I have one directory called "TrueCrypt" with the portable TrueCrypt application, and a volume container file called "PortableApps.tc". The container file has all of my PortableApps stuff.
Maybe you don't want to encrypt everything like this, but it works for me and keeps all of my program settings and data encrypted.
yes, me too i use truecrypt, but the problem is that u need admin rights for mounting a truecrypted partition or file (exept TC is allready installed on pc by an admin). means u cannot use it in netcafes and university where no admin rights
7zip dont need admin rights and is much better for some files.
truecrypt is better to encrypt an environment like whole portable apps, but for some media stuff or documents its good to use 7z

another good way is to use WinPT, there is a Portable Version
https://portableapps.com/node/11404
after install run it and right click systray key icon and choose File Manager.
Then, open the file(s) / folder(s) u wanna encrypt and choose then symmetrical.
then u enter pw and it will create a cryptet *.pgp file which u can encrypt with this programm and many other pgp tools / programms.
ps: to me the program works very well but its still beta
try it out

just an imho comment... but very often threads that start out similar go in different useful directions; and sometimes completely change pov far down in the replies.
