Need a little bit of help: PortableFirefox.ini

Can someone please explain what is expected behaviour of settings inside PortableFirefox.ini...
I know, you're gonna tell me to read te readme.txt file, but I already have read it, and I'm not certain that I got it right... So, can anyone please explain it to me... expecially the "UserProfileDirectory=Data\userprofile" setting!

I mean, when I run PortableFirefox.exe, it creates Application Data, Desktop and Favorites folders inside my Portable Firefox v1.5.0.2 folder, even though I use the .INI file with fore-mentined UserProfile setting which reffers to a existing folder.

I don't get it!! Smile I'd like to keep my PFF folder clean, you know... Wink

Thanks in advance...

Move the INI

to the same directory as PortableFirefox.exe

I have

I already have moved it to PFF directory (with PortableFirefox.exe)... That is the problem, I did everything according to readme.txt and following common sence, and it still does not work...

I will later post more details of my problem, as I am now at college, where I don't have my USB with PFF...

P.S. If I hadn't moved it to PFF directory, it would not create those folders, since it is disabled by default (inside PortableFirefox.exe launcher)... Am I right??

It's supposed to.

Unfortunately, redirecting the userprofile has some side effects. The USERPROFILE environment variable, under normal conditions, maps to \Documents and Settings\<username>. If you look in said folder under Windows Explorer, you'll see folders like Desktop, Start Menu, etc. under it. By redirecting USERPROFILE in PortableFirefox.ini, you're telling Firefox that all that stuff is now on your USB drive.

...unless what you mean is that Application Data, Desktop, etc. folders are being created in the same directory as PortableFirefox.exe, in which case I can only imagine that there's a bug in the pFF launcher.

I think that is the case

I think that is the case here, because I'd like to keep my PFF directory (one with PortableFirefox.exe and PortableFirefox.ini) clean, containing only following folder structure:

-Apps (folder with /firefox directory)
-Data (folder with /profile, /plugins and /userprofile)
-Other (folder with /PortableFirefoxCode)
PortableFirefox.exe
PortableFirefox.ini

Launcher (with INI configuration) constantly puts all redirected "stuff" into my PFF folder. All I want is to put redirected files inside "Data/userprofile" as reffered inside the INI file...
And it's quite annoying.. Smile

I still don't have any clues... Wink

Bug

It's a bug in the current release. I have a fix in place and I'll release it with 1503 (which was supposed to be out on Friday).
