Seriously, it's pointless and kinda annoying. I already know that my installed applications are portable. Does anyone else agree?

The portable suffix is required by us to distinguish between a portable version and a normal version.
That said, the menu will (in future) allow you to rename entries in the menu.

Or edit all the NSIS scripts(each guy who don't want to wait or don't like the R34 or similars) without the suffix
renameing some of the enrties would be good, but is there a way to change the "alt" text, which normally describes what an application does? When you hover over items in the menu bar, all you get is the location of the application. Can it be changed to show a breif description of what that app does? I mean, for someone new to portableapps, wtf is jooleem, without having to load it up and get that horrible theme tune blasting out at you at work, when you should be doing something constructive
I think the "portable" makes it sound better
But can I ask why we made it go after the app? I think it used to be before the app 2 years (or longer) ago.
Mainly so that if you have a bunch of "Portable" apps mixed into the menu with non-PAF stuff (like foobar2000), everything still gets sorted correctly, instead of all the "Portable x" ones being lumped together.
Also, the name of the app is more important, so it comes first. Same principle as editions of software: You don't say "Professional Edition <app>", you say "<app> Professional Edition".
Those are valid points, but I think the main reason was Mozilla wanted their applications branded Mozilla X, Portable Edition, though I'm sure your latter point was the reason.
It was actually both. We switched from Portable Firefox to Firefox Portable to Mozilla Firefox - Portable Edition to Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition as our licensing agreement with Mozilla evolved and that also applied to Thunderbird and Sunbird. I'd been considering a switch from Portable AppName to AppName Portable for a while mainly because having the same prefix repeated over and over looked silly and messed up alphabetical order. So I did them all when we made the switch for Mozilla.

other suggestion could be the menu collect the EXE name...
dont know how the new version of menu will do the change of the name, but i think this can be very fast (and easier) to program...

Thats pretty much implimented already. It gathers the name of the program from the launcher it self. However hopefully soon John will be getting the menu to read the appinfo ini settings from AppPortable\AppInfo\appinfo.ini in which should allow renaming be easier.

it does make sense, but it doesnt harm to be on. i dont mind it, and makes it sound 'better' anyways, the new menu allows u to rename... i believe so atleast
