They just won't show up on the U3 menu. But they will show up on the PAM when you invoke it. Depending on your OS and security it may even open automatically via AutoPlay or autorun.

You can add a "shortcut" to the U3 menu for portableapps using my Shortcut Creator.

I used to have a U3 shortcut creator but I don't anymore. Must have lost in on an old drive or something. Now I need it again.
How do I set that up again or do you have a creator?
Thank you!

IE portableapps.com, I'm not sure how to insall programs on to the stick can you explain to me how to do this or point me to a tutorial that will show me ho to do it ??

Welcome to Portable Apps, Andy!
For instructions on how to download, install, and run Portable Apps, you can visit this page: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_app#installing . If you still need help, don't hesitate to ask for it, just not in other people's threads.
You could use the calendar add on for Thunderbird. Is still pre 1.0 but extremely popular and well used around the globe. Is fully portable and integrates straight into Thunderbird.

I tried installing Lightning on a Cruzer using U3 from the Mozilla site but it didn't go well. It seemed to install OK but I could not add any events to the calendar. When I tried to remove it Thunderbird started acting like it had a lobotomy. I ended up removing Thunderbird and reinstalling it.
Is the version of Lightning here compatible with U3 on a Cruzer?
Thank you,

You can use Lightning in conjunction with Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition. But there has not been a supported version of any Mozilla apps for U3 for a long time now.
