Hopefully I am posting this in the right place, I recently found an old Sega megadrive in the loft and dusted it off to play some of my old favourites (showing my age there) but alas it did not work.
So I was wondering if anybody knew of as open source Sega Megadrive emulator that I could download from somewhere and if it was possible to make the aforementioned software, if indeed it exists, portable.
I know there are some DOS emulators and was hoping somebody may have come across what I am looking for.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I use (Kega) Fusion for emulating on computer, Gens is another great emulator. Both of them run under windows and don't require a megadrive BIOS to run. But, understand if you want games or ROM's as they're usually called, DON'T go around asking for them. They are copyrighted by their respected companies and therefore are illegal to download online. The only legal way to get ROM's is to dump them from your own cartridges. I own a genesis/megadrive (3 actually), a 32X, and a sega CD. So I know what it's like to keep these machines running. If you want to try and get your old machine running (which I suggest), there are plenty of places to go for help, I'm a bit of an expert myself...
Kega Fusion is one of the better known ones and is portable by design.
I agree with the other guy and i recommend you not ask for what are known as ROMS. It is a legal thing.
on the other hand WELCOME TO PORTABLE APPS
Thank you very much for your help and advice, it is appreciated.
