What about the OOo build from http://go-oo.org/ ? This seems more advanced...
Nope. This has been asked/discussed several times. Go-OO is an unofficial fork of OpenOffice.org, and with the 3.0 release of OpenOffice.org, most of the features of Go-OO have been added. It's not worth the time/effort to support an unofficial fork of an app as large as OpenOffice.org. Especially now that the OpenOffice.org developers are working directly with the PortableApps.com developers to create an official version of OpenOffice.org Portable to appear on both sites.

There is tension between some developers at Novell and OpenOffice.org. Some of it stems from how Sun controls OO.o, then there's Novell's partnership to Microsoft and their backing of OOXML and the controversy of getting ISO approved.
Here's some quick info I found about it on the web.
