SD cards/same cards better than usb flash drive?

So i saw one computer geek using a usb card reader. So that means he uses the card as storage. It was small. Is it smaller and cheaper than a usb flash drive?

not really. SD cards are no faster or slower than flash drives. some Thumb drives like the new 8GB Imation micro thumb drive is about the size of a SD micro card. They all use Flash memory.
