Old setup of PFF

I need PFF 1.5.0.2 with old directory structure. I made the stupid mistake of auto-updating Fx with extensions pending (downloaded but installed with a restart)
I copied my profile and userprofile folders to the new 1.5.0.3, but only a few extensions show, and they will not install.
I can then copy my profile stuff to the old dir structure and autoupdate to 1.5.0.3.

Re-Install?

Have you tried to re-install any of those extensions yet?

Use the INI

It should just work regardless of structure... unless they were only 1/2 updated before. You can use any dir structure you want with an INI. Check the other\PortableFirefoxSource directory.

The problem is that Fx

The problem is that Fx doesn't see my extensions and themes.
Here's a detailed overview of what happened:
I was looking around addons.mozilla.org for new extensions.
I downloaded 5 or 6.
I did some other browsing, and the update window appeared.
Forgetting that I still had to restart Fx, I told it to update.
It took a while, and it said it would restart Fx, but I don't think it would have, so I launched PFF and all I got were two boxes with nothing in them. They probably wanted to tell me something, but nothing was printed. All I could do was close them.
After that it showed an Fx window with nothing inside. It was full size, but it was completely gray.
I started Fx in safe mode, but I got a box that told me that extensions and themes would be disabled (there was more, but the message was incompletely printed).
I then got the same empty boxes and gray Fx.
I thought that if I copied the profile and userprofile to the PFF 1.5.0.3 (new download), it would be fine with my extensions and I could use it.
So I moved my profile and userprofile to the new distribution.
Fx works, but it only found some extensions and says that they will be installed after a restart.
I restarted, but nothing changed.
I then moved my profile stuff to the 1.5.0.2 distribution, and got the same thing.
I just thought of deleting extensions.rdf so that it will find extensions again. I'll post the results shortly.

Start over

If you managed to corrupt the profile by doing multiple things without restarting, you're probably going to need to rebuild your profile. It's nothing to do with Portable FF or the upgrade from 1.5.0.2 to 1.5.0.3 or the changed directory structures. Installing extensions and then updating FF without restarting 1st can corrupt your profile.

I think everything is fixed

I think everything is fixed now and I don't have to start over!

I closed Fx, deleted extensions.rdf, and started again.
Windows said there was an unresponsive script and asked if I wanted to stop script or continue. I chose to continue, and when I saw Fx open and the Tab Mix Plus session manager open I was ecstatic!
All 46 of my extensions appear (that includes the new ones), and function normally. I even got my themes back, and the theme I had active before this mess is active now. Now all I have to do is update to 1.5.0.3.

Lesson:
NEVER update with extensions pending and ALWAYS make a backup before updating.

If something is out of order, I'll post, but it appears that everything is back to what it was.

Good to hear

Glad it worked for you.

PS - Keep an eye on TMP Session Manager as that slows down stuff a lot off flash-based drives.

Everything seems fine. I

Everything seems fine. I updated my extensions (and added a couple more), and autoupdated to 1.5.0.3.
