Linux Portable

Seeing how there is no "official" linux portable here I made a bootable flash drive of LinuxMint 6. You can also get a virtual machine of a distro of linux.
The best resource for this I found was http://www.pendrivelinux.com

I recommend a 2gb or better size flashdrive (based on distro, my LinuxMint 6 is on a 4gb), and be sure the read/write speeds are good. If the drive was $20 or less, chances are that the drive's speeds aren't very good. Just a tip.

you can just make stick with linux on it from any distribution you like...

But to have it kind of useful, you want to have it bootable from the usb stick. Less then 50% of the computers curently around will be able to boot from a standard partitoned usb stick.
More computers will be able to boot from faked floppy image on the stick, but still not all.

What you probably want, is to have an virtual machine on your stick where you can run the linux in it.

but don't be disappointed when you find this kind of things is just entertainment. It is a virtual environment to be loaded and driver for it. Well the driver might not be exactly essential, but without this the thing will be probably dead slow.
So since there is a driver involved, it has to be installed generally under admin rights.
Still then, all the stuff has to get big part of your ram assigned, so at some point neither the host (windows) nor the guest (linux ) will be able to run reasonably.
