Program: Vulture's Eye & Vulture's Claw
Description: Graphical version of NetHack and SlashEm
License: NetHack General Public Licence; based on BISON general public license); Free & Open Source
Other:
Installed Vulture's Claw via the downloadable Windows installer on my USB drive. Here are the results:
- The Windows Installer creates a folder with 4 links in the startmenu and a desktop link. All other files are extracted to installation directory.
- Don't know if it writes anything to registry, but it seems not to (installing user had no rights to edit registry).
- Packed all contents to a .7z, uninstalled program, unpacked .7z, tried to run: it worked.
- After quitting it creates two files called "logfile" and "record" in installation directory.
- I've got no idea though, where it saves it's configurations. Files in /config were not touched after I changed some options.
Portable NetHack is already done.
Thank you.
Vulture's eye and vulture's claw dont work on my computer, whereas nethack does. also, Rob Loach re-organised his site at one point so the link is dead.
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
- Vulture's Eye saves savegame-files under a name like [login]-[charactername].NetHack-saved-game, where [login] is the name of the Windows user account the game was started under and [charactername] is the name the player named his character with. I don't know whether this naming scheme affects the continuation of saved games on other machines or accounts than those the game was started with.

- Tried to make Vulture's Claw portable (installing, zipping, uninstalling, unzipping), but doesn't work.

from experience, i know that Nethack leaves a reg key or two in HKCU\Software\Nethack . plus, its settings are saved in some files like defaults.nh

I searched for "Nethack" in regedit, didn't found any results.
