I am running notepad++ from the prompt, and although notepad++ is already open the splash screen shows before the screen comes up, even when the file is already open in the editor.
Is there a way to suppress it?

in the other/source folder there is a file called Notepad++Portable.ini move this file to the folder with the Notepad++Portable.exe and open it up and find this line
DisableSplashScreen=false set that to true and the splash screen should be disabled

You mean if you already have Notepad++ Portable open and drop a file onto Notepad++Portable.exe the splash comes up again? If so, that's a bug.

I am using it on the command line with FarManager utility, my way of avoiding the Scaffold Shuffle
Launching from the command line brings up the splash screen even if it is already open. I will try your suggestion.
