Searched as requested per guidelines and could not find answers, apologies if I overlooked something. Also not sure how a summary works; apologies if I didn't do it right.
VLC Portable tends to crash if the screenshot settings are changed. Format must be PNG and directory must be My Documents\My Pictures on the System drive (e.g. C:\). Changing one or both and trying to take a screenshot crashes the app.
(Lightscreen is an awesome app but doesn't screenshot video.)
Also VLC Portable likes to skip on video. It will continue with audio but will pause the video for a second or two, and the video will jump ahead with artifacts. Can't seem to watch an episode of House or BSG without it doing this a few times. Happened on Babylon 5 as well, but IIRC not Twin Peaks or Enterprise (all ~350MB Divx/Xvid AVIs).
Host PC is a 3GHz P4 with 1GB RAM and Intel onboard video, running XP Pro Sp2. Can't find where it says how much system RAM is allocated to video, but it can play Deus Ex (an Unreal Engine 1-based FPS-RPG hybrid, so it's gotta have 32-64MB for video, I'd imagine).
