Hi all,
I'm finally back to the portableApps world after several months of inactivity.
I just downloaded and installed the latest 1.1 PortableApps suite.
As I'm blind I work with a screen reader (JAWS from Freedom Scientific available at http://www.Freedomscientific.com).
The first thing I noticed launching the PortableApps menu is that my screen reader "sees" absolutely nothing, apparently because of a graphical design.
Could there be a workaround to make this menu and consequently the entire suite accessible for blinds ?
It could be for example possible to add a new Applications item (submenu, dropdown button) to the PortableApps menu software in order to give access to all programs available in the suite ...
This is coming in an upcoming release. The problem is that our current development tools don't have screenreader-friendly versions of any of the graphical controls used. At all. I've come up with a workaround. Two, actually, In the upcoming 1.2 release, I'm duplicating the program list within a submenu of systray right-click menu. Can you currently get access to that?
Later, I've come up with a workaround combination control that will allow the controls in the menu itself to work in both instances but it will take a bit more to implement.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
John,
No problem with a "submenu of
systray right-click menu", it would be very nice of you if you could do that, waiting for a more eleguant solution in the future ...
Regards,
