I am running PortableFirefox1.5 on a fairly old USB Memorystick. It works like a dream but when I shut down Firefox it can take up to 45 sec for all write activity to stop. Is there any way of reducing the writes required after Firefox is shutdown ? It becomes a bit of a nuisance when playing around with extensions/themes & having to stop & restart Firefox very often.
You could turn off cookies. But there's not a whole lot else you can do. Portable apps are most dependent on drive speed. And an older, slower, drive will make them perform rather poorly... especially starting and stopping apps.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks for the very quick reply. I guess I will just have to put up with it. I could always buy a new memory stick but this one is a 512MB & works well.
