VMS files have the version number.
e.g. READTEXT.TXT;1
COMFTEXT.TXT;1
When I FTP to windows, it will create files READTEXT.TXT.1 & COMFTEXT.TXT.1
As as result, it is difficult to open it using normal program (before rename them 1 by 1).
How to set it to name it just READTEXT.TXT without the version number ?
Any setting to be done ?
Thanks in advance.
I don't think there is. You could request the feature be added with the FileZilla folks. They may not, though, as this is a rather niche thing. I can't believe people are still using VAXes. When I graduated college over 10 years ago, the university had already retired theirs and the only one left was run by some hardcore nerds in an old bathroom.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks for your reply. Indeed we are still using Alpha VAX.
Unfortunately, they are still in my data center (not bathroom :-))
I found 1 pgm (NexusFile) that can rename them by batch.
So can solve my problem.
FileZilla is still better as not many FTP client support VAX.
Good work. FileZilla.
