Okay, I know *now* and from two past experiences that an automatic update from Mozilla Portable erases all of the information I've stored in my bookmarks folder. (I *did* try to avoid the update by always selecting "later" when asked; I thought I would have the option of upgrading my Mozilla after all this issues were worked out, as I remembered what a pain in the ass it was last time to lose all of my saved info, but eventually Mozilla updated itself without giving me any choice.)
Is there any way to downgrade my version of Mozilla, possibly restoring my previous settings? I've tried to backup my favorites list before, but that didn't help as I couldn't manage to restore the backup file to my Mozilla bookmarks.
(I have little to no understanding of this, but I'm getting sick of portable apps updating themselves and deleting all of my personal settings. What's the point anymore?)
NONE of the apps with auto-updaters including the Mozilla apps like Firefox will delete their data if they auto-update (we wouldn't release them if they did). The bug is that it will mess with the PCs local registry settings pointing to the current Firefox (making it look like its the one on the stick instead of the local one).
If you're losing data, something else is going on. Is it possible your stick has a hardware issue? Have you checked it for logical errors?
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
