portable search

I had ceedo on my stick with Copernic desktop search installed. My stick broke and I lost Ceedo. So I installed Portable Apps on a new USB stick and downloaded Copernic Desktop search home. However, the latter refuses to install but to the local dir (i.e. C-dir); it doesn't accept the drive letter my USB stick is mounted on.

Does someone know the reason or tried the same ? As an alternative I found portable puggle but I don't know how to install and use it. However, even when Copernic was not a portable app, it installed and worked very well for me from the USB stick under Ceedo, even on network drives, so the alternative should have the same features.

puggle portable search

Check out this app!

Simply copy the binary to your usb stick and run it. It will index all the files contained in the stick!

Not Portable

Likely, if it doesn't install to your flash drive, it was probably not meant to be installed to your.. um... flash drive...
My guess is that Copernic has some sort of partnership with Ceedo that grants them this ability.
What I plan to use (eventually, when I get over NTFSophobia) on my flash drive is Everything which I've heard is lightning fast.
After doing a Google seach for Puggle (and refining it because I don't really care about dogs) I slapped myself in the forehead for not knowing of such an awesome-looking app that is even natively portable .

SearchMyFiles

NirSoft is well-known for having some great apps; SearchMyFiles takes care of file searches in a lightning-fast manner, and with enough power to please anybody. It's the only desktop search app I'll use anymore.
