Hi and welcome here Smile

Unfortunately, you cant do that yet. The next version of the menu will have this ability though. There are a couple of modifications of the original menu floating around in the forum that have the ability but I stick to the original Smile

sorry. I don't use them so I just know that they exist but not where...

Maybe someone else can jump in or you try finding them using the search box in the top right corner.

Geek.menu has the ability to hide icons, as well as a lot of other features.

But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Get rid of uninstall

Many programs come with an uninstaller. If, say, you installed it and then copied the folder to your flash drive, you might have an uninstaller's .exe, and you can remove that.

The only other thing I can think of is, mimic the apps here and put the thing in a subdirectory, and make yourself a launcher, it'd have to be .exe and it would look in the subdirectory and call that.

Otherwise, you got 3 options... 1) Put up with 5 icons... 2) Get rid of Paint.net and use The GIMP and/or XnView (just one exe)... or 3) Use PAM R34 MOD. That's the one that will let you remove EXEs you don't need or add .exe's that aren't in the expected folder(s) to the menu, or make categories. All that functionality is likely to be in PAM 2.0, but until PAM 2.0 comes out, well, we make do. Some suck it up and accept a lack of features; others use mods. R34 is just as good; can't speak for others though.

Have you even tried GIMP yet? I know it has a weird name but that doesn't mean it's bad.

You kiddin? Gimp Rocks :-)

Plus you can customise the tool layout fairly well. I had previously used the Photoshop layout plugin but then uninstalled it and changed the layout to something like Photoshop's but geared more towards my preferences.

It sucks not having a base/nested window but the app itself is still great. Plus the nest window is in development. If theres anything else you don't like about Gimp maybe use it, determine how you think it could be done better and post on the Gimp forum with your recommendation.

Thats the beaut of Open Source Software Smile

Yeah, there is certainly a learning curve, and the lack of a solid single window makes the UI difficult to get used to for most Windows users. The application itself is quite powerful and works great, getting used to the UI is 90% of the problem IMHO.

I like that most of my friends dont have much experience with computers, I can show them apps like the GIMP and they have no problem just picking it up and running, at least with completing basic tasks, for my friends that have spent a lot of time on a computer, they all have a harder time with the GIMP, and their ONLY complaint has been the UI

I first got used to Photoshop and after playing a bit with GIMP I must say it's not bad.

And it runs natively under Ubuntu Biggrin

I've tried many image

I've tried many image processing programs over the years beginning with Deluxe Paint on an Amiga. I've used AfterEffects on a MAC as well as windows. (great intuitive interface)

I've had no problem figuring out GIMP. Much more logical than Photoshop, frankly.

As an artist one knows what needs to be done and looks for those tools. IF a user isn't an artist then that will be a problem no matter what the software.
