Weather Portable Apps

Are there still no weather apps for Portabler Apps? I know it is hard to find one that does not have spyware. Don't always want to rely on ForecastFox in Firefox. Would be nice if there was a light weight single purpose app such as WeatherPulse. It is free but I don't think it available for conversion.

I should add that

I should add that WeatherPulse seems to run ok in portable apps. It probably is leaving traces behind on the host machine though.

Weather Watcher

Weather Watcher, http://www.singerscreations.com/Weather-Watcher.asp, can be configured to run as a portable app, ie run from a USB stick AND leave nothing on the host. It can easily run as a PortableApp app and even be configured to run as a U3 app. Freeware and no spyware. But its not open source so can't be hosted here.

See this thread for how to set up: http://www.singerscreations.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2217&p=12573&...

Thanks for that suggestion. I

Thanks for that suggestion. I installed it on my desktop... and I think perhaps I may like it more than WeatherPulse. Not sure how I missed it when I was searching.

I'm not very good with scripts but it looks doable for me.

Launcher

Maybe if you're lucky somebody will be gracious enough to make a launcher for it.

No need

It really doesn't need one. There is only one exe and loading all the required files to a portableapps folder is all it takes to run.

The key is to configure Weather Watcher to store user files in the program folder.

-edit-

I take that back. A launcher that would start the app with the "-id" parm would be useful. It would save converting a cmd script.

I had forgotten about this

I had forgotten about this app. I wanted to do a Sputnik skin for it years ago. I might be up to the challenge now.

I just use the web

I just use the website wunderground.com and have it and its live weather radar bookmarked in my Firefox (and this host machine's IE). I seldom need weather info faster than it takes to load up the browser, and I don't exactly live in a calm-weather area (eastern NC, USA) but YMMV.

There are many options

Some people get the weather from their local newspaper, some from their local tv station. The almanac is popular too.
