I just need to find the time to make the necessary changes and have them tested by some volunteers on the site. I also have experimental code to detect a local install or a portable install as needed.
Java will probably not be bundled with Portable OpenOffice.org by default for some time... Sun has just said 'sometime' and 'open'... no details of when or whether it will be an OSI-approved license or not... if not, then it simply can't be bundled and hosted at SourceForge. Not to mention that it will add another 60MB to Portable OpenOffice.org's 168MB install size.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

So, Sun has announced a change to the Java license in recent news. Will that solve the problem?
