I made sure to SAVE the rule before trying to use it, and then going into the Backup tab to select the rule.
If I try excluding the Apps directory (by putting App into the folder exclude box), everything under the primary selected directory is excluded. Preview shows all red. Trying the job generates a one-kb archive.
This happens when applying a "NoApps" rule to backup a portableapps style program directory.
This happens even when applying a "NoApps" rule to an existing backup job for my Thunderbird profile (which doesn't even have an Apps directory in it).
During my playing around with various ways to specify the exclude, I found when specifying a folder to exclude as "App\" that the preview shows the App folder was NOT excluded but the CONTENTS of the folder was excluded.
Anyway, after all of this, I had an idea... it would be nice to have the option to write a "rules.txt" into the backup so you could see what includes and excludes affected the backup archive you are looking at. Or maybe write the rules (like from a section of the Rules.ini) to the top of the backup log? Or maybe include that backup log into the backup?
you using Sync, Backup or Secure (or all of them)?
I tested this in Backup for 2.06 and 2.07.
