Lunascape web browser

Has anyone succeeded at making a portable version of the Lunascape browser? I just installed it on my computer at home, and I'm quite impressed. I'd love to have a portable version on my USB key.

Closed Source / Too Early

It's closed source, so we'll probably pass on it ourselves. And it's way too early in its development. It had major bugs like losing bookmarks until about 6 days ago.

Update: Latest version of Lunascape can be installed as portable

I just installed the latest version of Lunascape on my PC at work (where I do not have administrator rights).

The Lunascape installer is kind of interesting. The program uses only one installer, whether you want to install normally or as a portable application. When you run the installer it asks you if you want to install as a portable application.

This way, they don't have to bother with multiple download formats. Kinda clever!

Regardless, it appears Lunascape is no longer beta. I've had no problems with it so far.

My next task is to benchmark all the different portable browsers on this computer to see which one runs the fastest.

Beware!!

I use the LastPsss plugin on any browser, on any computer, anywhere I am. It's a must-have program for me. When I tried to load this plugin on Lunascape 6.0, I got this message from a security program called SnoopFree Privacy Shield 1.0.7...

Blocked illegal keyboard hook in 'C:\Program Files\Lunascape\Lunascape6\Luna.exe'

Then Lunascape quit working.

Apparently Lunascape tried to run a keylogger on the program I use to store all my personal and private info including all my logins & passwords.

Lunascape may be SPYWARE!!

Incorrect

LastPass itself was telling Luna.exe to try and hook the keyboard (exactly like a keylogger does), as it does with Firefox and others. But your security program understands it in relation to Firefox, but not in relation to Lunascape. That's all.

Wait!

Still Lunascape is not portable.
Lunascape Portable version write data in the registry, too!
Also create a useless folder.

This is not a rare case.
It's tip of an iceberg.

Although It's not portable, many vendor says this is portable without careful consideration.

You must watch out.

Portable is Justice.

Not Surprising

Most portable software from other locations isn't portable as we define it. It leaves registry keys or temp files. Sometimes even all your settings.

+5 years after initial post, it seems that lunascape survived "too early" phase. It'd be great to see another browser using gecko engine to PA library. (like we have chrome PA and iron PA)

Any News with Lunascape?

I recently ran into this browser and I'm currently trying it out as my test browser for website development. It's been a couple of years since this was requested and I thought I'd bring it up again, because Lunascape has been active lately with periodical updates. So I thought this should signify that Lunascape is ready to be a portable app.

Though I guess the challenge now is to try and get the developers to agree and approve since this is a closed-source free app. Hopefully Lunscape is open to making their app portable. Having one portable browser with three different rendering engines to test your website designs would be great.

There's an option to choose a portable installation already. It up to you to make it portable or not at the moment of setup.
