I'm running TB portable from a USB stick using the portable apps menu. Yet I notice that it's using profiles.ini located in my "C:\Documents and Settings\..." folder hierarchy. I thought the whole idea of the portable apps system when used on a USB stick was it should not start messing with the C: drive? How do I stop it accessing (and changing) C:?
How are you running it. Are you running ThunderbirdPortable.exe? Or are you running thunderbird.exe within it or setting Thunderbird as your default mail handler? (neither of which you should do)
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
???
That file "profiles.ini" doesn't even exist on Thunderbird.
If you are starting ThunderbirdPortable by ThunderbirdPortable.exe, it won't leave any files on your system.
Are you sure that "profiles.ini" is created by Thunderbird? It may be created by another program. Please copy here the content of "profiles.ini" for us to see.
