Edited to Add: Nevermind. No problem. I'm just not patient enough.
==========
No sign of this problem in the forum or FAQ, so I'm guessing it's something specific to my configuration. Installing the Suite Standard 1.5.2, from a Windows XP Pro SP 3 machine, to a typical 16GB USB drive.
The installation ran for about 5 minutes, then hung at the point of "Extract: xul.dll... 100%". Installation process is locked up at this point; cannot even cancel it. Have to cancel it through the Task Manager.
Ran the install package initially, from the USB drive I was installing to. Tried a second time, with the install package located on the PC's primary hard drive. Same result.
Deleted and re-downloaded the install package to the PC, re-ran it. Same result.
Any ideas?

Doh!@#! Uhhh ... nevermind. Apparently I'm not patient enough. Waited about 10 minutes each time, when it hung up at this point. Last time, I just left it, and it just woke back up again. Slow installation, for some reason, but it seems to be working fine now.
First off, check your device to be sure that it's still doing something (light flashing). As a general rule, the larger the drive the slower it is. The fastest 8GB drive is about the same speed as an average to above average 1GB drive. An average 16GB drive is going to be really slow when dealing with lots of small files like on an install (OpenOffice.org alone has 2,000+ files) and the installer will appear to pause as the slower drive catches up with all the files being written to it. How long are you giving it when it pauses? Did you check to see that the light on your drive isn't blinking to indicate activity?
If it is paused and no drive activity is occurring, something else is up. This usually means the drive is overheating, the port is having an issue or, sometimes, the drive could be fake (if you bought it off ebay or a smaller online vendor... they often reprogram a smaller drive to look larger even though that extra space isn't accessible and it'll just take an hour to attempt to write to the faked space).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Hmmm. Actually, I just realized it's actually a 32GB drive. It's a Survivor drive, which I've had for close to a year, used regularly the whole time. I'm pretty sure it actually is a 32GB drive.
As I noted, it is still installing (yes, drive light is flashing). However, it is taking interminably long. It's been running for well over an hour now, and the progress bar (assuming it's semi-accurate), shows it is less than 1/4 finished.
Does it matter that there is other data already on the portable drive? Any tips for how to improve the install time? Will the utilities' run-speed be comparable?
Thanks for the feedback.
I'd wager that running portable software from it will be slow. The 32GB ones are even slower than the 16GB ones. It can probably handle loading a few large files like MP3s and video files better than it can hundreds of small files like with applications.

My 16GB JD FireFly is only a little bit slower than my 8GB FireFly, the latter of which is as fast as my old 2GB FireFly (you can tell which drive is my favorite, can't you? ). And none of these struggle with small files.
Then again, Lexar was one of the first flash drive manufacturers, so they should know what they're doing!
