Signature On Portable Device

Hi,

I am trying to use a signature on my portable thunderbird, however when moving from computer to computer the drive letter may change and therefor the signature does not work.

As portable thunderbird does not save its own copy of the signature file, it just used the path to the file, I was woundering if any body knows of away around this. I'm guessing there is, as i'm pritty sure alot of the people who use portable thunderbird are also using a signature and I have not been able to find a post regarding the solution.

Thanks for your help.

Known Issue... Future Release

This is a known issue with Portable Thunderbird. I've got a possible fix I'm working on for a future release. There was a workaround where you could use a chrome:// or similar URL but this stopped working.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

until John releases a fix,

until John releases a fix, try the remount utility to remount the drive to a specific drive letter. I made a handy batch file, and many people improved on it. Look in general Discussion for it.

using a signature

I've used a signature on portable TB for ages. Just put it in the Portable TB folder (or any folder on your key/iPod/whatever).

could try signature switch extension?

The signature switch extension allows a signature file to be placed in a folder (eg. signature) under the profile directory - using the path variables %ProfD%\signature\ , you should have access whenever ?? - see the extension site for details - good FAQ for most possible issues.

Are there any updates on

Are there any updates on this right now?
I tried Signature Switch, but it has the problem that it's not being inserted automagically like the "normal" signatures, which makes it not really useful for me. Also it simply isnt to configure account related but address related.

using signature switch

There are considerations using signature switch - if you use html or plain text - it may also apply to standard signatures without the extension ???

If using html format for message, you will need to enclose your signature within "pre" tags (or alternate html formatting - "pre" is easiest)to maintain the format of the signature - if not all lines will output as a single paragraph.

You can have a separate signature file without the tags for plain text emails or accept the "pre" tags showing under plain text output.

This is as best as I know - I would welcome a better understanding if anyone can shed any light - maybe we just stick to plain text emails!!

Another scenario I am trying to sort out is when I have a default email signature and different sigs for different emails (I have multiple email addresses) - I have found when forwarding an email and changing the sending email address, the sig changes and I lose the forwarded inline email text - Its never that simple is it!!
