Hi,
I am new to PortableApps and need some simple help installing other apps not listed.
I am quite positive this topic has been discussed in the forums but I have yet to find it.
I want to install a lot of my favorite apps and I have read this:
The PortableApps.com Menu will also work with other standalone and portable apps. You just need to place them in a directory "next to" the PortableAppsMenu directory. So, in a standard layout, you'd create a directory within the X:\PortableApps directory and place it within there. For example, if you have a portable program MyApp.exe, you could create a folder called X:\PortableApps\MyApp\ and place MyApp.exe and all its files within there. Then, just click Options - Refresh App Icons within the PortableApps.com Menu and your new app will show up.
I am not quite sure how to do this and would really appreciate someone helping me though this in a step-by-step simple explanation.
I did however try to install an app (Malwarebytes) but I must have installed to the wrong folder because after installing I went to options>refresh App Icons, and several Malwarebytes icons appeared,including the uninstall icon.read me icon, etc.
I know this is an easy procedure and I apologize for a probable repetitious question, but if someone can simplify this for me I would greatly appreciate it.
Haven't done much file transfer type work.

Malwarebytes is not a portable app. It updates the host's Registry. As do most Windows apps. There is more, a LOT more, to making an app portable that simply installing it to a USB drive.

Sorry for being so stupid. Everyone has to learn somehow and everyone was a noob at one time.

is a long haul of a process. I don't know how to program in any computer language, so I can't help. You are basically going to have to learn how to program in a language. C is one that can be programmed for these applications. Java is not (to my knowledge). Anything beyond that is beyond me.
You do sound like you are interested in applications beyond PA, so please show your support here https://portableapps.com/node/19006 . That is a thread I started asking about designated PA pages in order to explain that some applications are native portable.
