Cameo tMoz Remix

well since I haven't got a response from you I'm going to invoke one - Download the new Cameo without Mozilla products and with the Source Code of the Applications that the actual binary(s) where actually altered posted online, other than that enjoy. Also the applications from PortableApps.com where not altered, just the Ascii .ini files where invoked, as which seems legal and legit since the .ini files state;"
# The above options are explained in the included readme.txt
# This INI file is an example only and is not used unless it is placed as described in the included readme.txt
"
doesn't say we can't alter the .ini to make it work within the constraints offered, so there for no violations have been made and the link to the download page of the beta 2 tMoz remix is http://cameo.binarybums.com/download.htm.

alternatively direct download links for beta 2 tMoz remix are as follows:
download the shell only
download the portable desktop environment

keep an eye out as beta three, or possibly release candidate one are on the way!

And as always enjoy people, remember an open source world is only as open as the minds of its community!!!

Cool, but caution

I dig what you guys are trying to do, and when I get time at home I'll test it out there and see if it's something I'd like to use on the go.

One warning I'll give you, and this is in no way official, since I'm just a regular guy up here, is that I see you're redistributing CCleaner. There's a guy up here who made a portable launcher for CCleaner, and he and I guess others have asked Piriform if it's OK to redistribute their product, and their answer has always been a resounding NO. They do work with various mirrors, such as filehippo (which I use), but they seem to only allow redistribution of the full installer of CCleaner, complete with the adware toolbar, and only then with permission. I think that's fairly standard for non-open source freeware.

I hold no grudge against you for redistributing CCleaner (and actually hope yours is the portable one without the adware bundled), I'd just like to warn you that if Piriform find out, they may take action. I respect and understand what you're trying to do, but perhaps you could go the same way our launcher's author went. Include the launcher and include instructions on how to get the portable version from Piriform. It's another step for your end-users, but it keeps you on the up-and-up.

Best of luck with your project. It's very nice, and possibly could be offered as like a super version of the PortableApps.com suite. Maybe you could go that way with it. Offer all the PortableApps.com apps in the suite (but use the latest versions) and your desktop replacement. Just that. And then have links and/or instructions on how to get the stuff you can't just redistribute. If it's all open source and all legal, you can get it hosted on SourceForge, I believe, and then it's only up to managements' discretion if they want to link to it here, maybe work on it with you, brand it, etc. But again, I speak not for the powers that be.

i was drunk

i was drunk when i wrote the last post as it had nothing to do with what you said, but that is kind of the goal of the project, to have a few different variants. Other than a shell and portable desktop environment, we plan on having a full blow say portable distro as a forensics/recovery also. time and legal will tell, till now thanks for the input and FYI very much appreciated.
