Installation Hiccup

Hi I chose to download the 'Platform Only' package. As I wanted to be able to select only the apps I actually need. I downloaded it to my 8GB memory stick. When I started to install, it seemed to be doing something in DOS? I wasn't aware that there was a DOS on a memory stick? This was followed by my printer, spontainiously spitting out sheets of paper each with a couple of words or lines of gibberish. My response was to cancel install and switch my PC off.

When I switched it on again this morning, the printer picked up where it had left off. Spewing out sheets of wasted paper. It wouldn't be so bad, but I was out of the room at the time and the printer in question is a large format, A2! What's happening? Is this normal?

Unrelated

Sounds like you had a dormant virus and the PAP installer happened to have done something that woke it up. Neither the Platform nor the installer has any console components (current versions of Windows don't actually have DOS, just a console that resembles it) that I'm aware of and it certainly isn't doing anything remotely related to printing...

Hi Bruce

Sorry I've been so long responding. Anyhow, I ran 'MalwareBytes AntiMalware' and it found 2 dodgy malwares and dealt with them. I then attempted to install 'Portable Apps' again and it went smoothly and without problems.
Thank you for your quick response and constructive help in this matter. L1 :¬]
