Hello,
Just stumbled across that blog and since the logo looks pretty much like the official PA one I thought that maybe it's owned by someone from here?

NOPE. we've sent them a few cease and desist notices though, and they redistribute warez AFAIK.
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
So I thought...
....
Mind renaming the topic?
At least say "portablecrapz.blahspot.com"
[samecrapz].freeforums.org = same guys.
Quamquam omniam nescio, nec nihil scio.
Oh, and let's not forget they have a fork or at least reskinned version of the menu with their logo and color scheme. Gave me a good laugh.
I admit, I read the blogspot site, just to see what all can be portablized. Most of it I don't have time nor use for. They work quick, too. 28 releases so far in this month alone? They take shortcuts though, but they also slam out updates faster. They had that Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 everyone was asking for here, the day it came out - it came out here 3-4 weeks later. The biggest problems are that they use Thinstall and Xenocode, which they most likely haven't paid for, to portablize their apps... and they use a ripoff of this site's logo and name to try to appear legitimate.
To answer the original question, the owner has popped in here before, username wwjoshdev or something like that, but he's not a regular member. One of his forum's moderators has been here, too, something starts with an M. His name's all over the forums, so if you saw that you'd know who I was talking about. So no, they're not from here, but they've been here, and they visit the site regularly. They do use the launchers from here, so they're watching, keeping an eye out. In one forum topic, they were talking about using the App Compactor and on what folders (everything but the launcher, I think they said) and in another, they were discussing one version of the launcher/format versus another.
Username malikor https://portableapps.com/user/117112 appears here and as a mod on the other. Illegal software in two of his posts. https://portableapps.com/node/13404#comment-120600 and https://portableapps.com/node/19536
That's the one, but I am still confused as to why his post was deemed illegal in the first one (node 13404). The software was classed as open source; therefore he should have been in the clear to post it, shouldn't he? To put it another way, portablecrapz.blahspot as some like to call it posts illegal software; this is true; but does it make their postings of, say, 7-Zip and Notepad++ illegal as well (aside from the fact that they may be in violation of something using a modified PA.c logo)?
But my guess would be that in addition to using the modified trademark they do not include the source of the OSS apps they host. This violates the GPL or other public licenses that the apps use.
In addition I think the guidelines dictate that because of the wholly illegal ports they also host like Photoshop we remove any links to it.

That makes sense.
That does not. He did not link to the portablecrapz site, he linked directly to the file's rapidshare download.
Not that I'm defending this guy, per se. Just saying.
Because the link is now removed I assumed it was a link to the "portablecrapz" site. Also it appears to be freeware rather than open source so that is another reason why it was likely removed.
