OpenID and Forums

OK. This is just a small rant from a technically challanged individual.

As far as I understand the philosophy (or at least part of it) of OpenID the idea is to be able to browse the whole web with just one ID. That's cool, in a lot of cases. I can really appreciate the idea.

But why aren't there any forums/forum software that supports it.

I mean I'm not that active of a user but even I'm on at least a dozen of forums and it's totally irritating having to register at each and everyone of them and then store my login info somewhere and so on. It sucks. It really does.

So I hope that one day all major forum software developers will start supporting OpenID, especially since there are like just 5-6 major players.

Try

using Firefoxes built in password manager. I enter one password at the beginning of my surf session and all of my usernames and passwords are auto filled as I surf. I just click the username, then enter and I'm there. Also, the AMO extension greasemonkey lets you save passwords for sites like Yahoo, where password manager doesn't ordinarily work. But I agree, one password would be nice, but, only if I could permanently delete all my other ones. I wouldn't like them lingering out there.

Also...

Most forum software doesn't come with it. it has to be enabled/installed as an addon or mod.
