VideoPad Video Editor

VideoPad is a professional fully blown video editor.
It's arguably the best completely free video editor currently available.

It is free for both personal as well as commercial use.

The installer itself is only 600 kb, however, during installation it downloads ffmpeg3.
When fully installed the total size is around 7 mb.

VideoPad has no dotnet, gtk or java depenencies.
It does store its settings in the following registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NCH Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NCH Software

However, after installing VideoPad, copying the "C:\Program Files\NCH Software" folder to your usb stick is sufficient to have made it portable.
Simply run VideoPad\Videopad.exe to start it.

interesting...

+1 I'm definitely in line to download it.
I can't test this or code, but I have to ask, are you certain that moving that folder made it portable? It wouldn't necessarily make a new registry entry if there already was that entry, and it would probably make a new one if there wasn't one. I mean, the original coders hadn't planned on portable-ization, so the program wouldn't be designed to do that.

Had me right up to . . .

. . . the part where it writes to the registry. Sorry. Can't call that truly portable. The reason I look to portable software is that I can't put on applications that write to the registry.

Rats! Foiled again.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure there is no absolute truth?

Request Apps

That's why this is in the request apps forum. The original poster is hoping someone will make a fully portable PAF package of it.

Contacted NCH waiting for response

I have taken a look at the license of the software, found here http://www.nch.com.au/general/legal.html#104

Looks like this would be allowed. However, I have contacted them to verify this, and am waiting to hear back.
