Just to confirm

Okay. Just to confirm for the next update. Should the FMVs be an optional part in the main installer, or a in seperate installer.

Fine

I think we're fine with them in it since they don't add too much space. I can't recall where things were at testing-wise before, but is this pretty much good to go (aside from updating to the current PAF which I can do)?

2.2.1

Almost forgot it needs to go to 2.2.1. Post a new update with that and PAF and we'll do an abbreviated testing and get it out. Do we have a high-res version of their icon anywhere?

That'll work. Let's do this next one as a PR. I'll make you the splash screen now.

Splash

Your splash screen is ready:

When you update to the latest Warzone and do a new release, call it Pre-Release 1 and we'll get more people testing it so we can release it.

Woah!

Don't know if it's where I'm downloading from, Source Forge's new software or being such a fresh file but this downloaded at over 7 megabytes per second. Oh and congrats =-)

I just downloaded this and there is one thing that i saw when I tried to install it, there are no options to not/install the fmv.

May the Shwartz be with you

FMVs

The FMVs install automatically. We decided not to have it optional.

Seems right

It would seem right to have an option since the local installer has that option as well. (I think it does, does it?)

Found a Problem:

So I just installed the game and when I start it from the PApps menu the following happens:

1. Splash screen
2. Warzone2100Portable.exe & warzone.exe is started (Checked it in the Task Manager)
3. Both .exe files are closed again
4. stderr.txt contains the following:
"11:46:18: [screenInitialise] Error: Video mode 1024x768@32bpp is not supported!"

A few words to my system:

I'm using an ASUS EeePC 1000H with a native resolution of 1024x600.

When I go to \Warzone2100Portable\App\Warzone 2100 and start the warzone.exe from there, everything is fine! Mabe the launcher should set the resolution to 800x600 on the first run or the confing file should be set to it in the installer. Maybe that can solve the problem.

Hope this helps!!

EDIT: After changing the resolution in the game, the problem is still there!

EDIT 2: After changing it directly in the config file, nothing changes...

hmm..

Just tested on an XP SP3 desktop machine without admin rights and the games loaded up without any issues. May be a settings or a resources issue at your end.

Resolution

I'm not intending to test this app, but I'd recommend that to test it better you try a resolution less than 1024x768.

Tested

Tested on 800x600 and worked without issue. Also works on my usual 1280x1024 resolution. I'm guessing it may be a hardware issue on the Eeepc.

@ 73h_p0W - Can you try the regular version of Warzone 2100 and check their forums to see if anyone else has had similar issues?

Already got it...

...installed before without issues. I even uninstalled the regular one to test the portable version!

When I installed the "reatail" version for the first time, I had to activate OpenGL in the graphic cards for the game to run. So no problems with that. Warzone wasn't the only OpenGL app I have. I even deactivated it in the options and I got other games like Quake 3 or Nexuiz not working anymore.

I'm already a member at wz2100.net. Wink

It has to be something with the launcher. It's the only explanation for me. Running the game from the Apps folder works without any problems.

Interesting

This is all quite odd. The launcher's code is practically untouched from Dev 9 to the PR. The only thing I changed was the version info.

I'll look into this further.

EDIT: I just tested and it worked fine. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

No errors here. Also, I

No errors here. Also, I doubt the launcher has anything to do with an error that showed up in a stderr log. Perhaps something weird with your video settings? Or an intermittent strange occurrence?

I agree

Yeah. It seems more to me like the EeePC doesn't support the video mode.

If the laucher code from DT9

If the laucher code from DT9 hasn't been changed, well... I don't know!

DT9 worked perfectly! 1024x768 is supported. It's just the lower part of the screen wouldn't be displayed. BUT you can "scroll" the screen by moving the mouse to the top/bottom of the screen. This function might not be working ingame, but the resolution is supported. On the other side 1024x768 fullscreen apps will be interpolated to fit 1024x600. To be sure about that I tested the resolutions with:

Postal (???)
ProQuake (OGL)
Quake II (OGL)
Quake III Arena (OGL)
Rune (D3D)

I do play these normally at 800x600.

I tried to change the resolution manually in the config file. It still works running from the Apps folder, but not starting it with the launcher, that worked with DT9!

Hmm

Well actually. I'm starting to wonder whether I should just get rid of the .ini screen rez entry. After all, it can be set from within the game. What should I have the default screen rez be though (I'll just have a default Data folder except the screen rez option instead of the .ini)?

works for me with Vista Ultimate 64bit SP2

I just tried it out on vista ultimate 64 bit (sp2) and I had no problems with it.

My screen resolution is 1680x1050 with 32bit colour

been a big fan of the game. But for some reason this won't save it's resolution settings.
Any ideas on why it won't?

Known bug

Well, it depends on where you're changing it. Due to my stupidity, the .ini file AND the normal in-game option both configure screen resolution. I'll be fixing this in the next release.

The newest version included FMV videos. They are quite large.
