Portableapps.com Browsing app

I was wondering if it was possible to make am applicaiton that would be able to run portablely like all the other apps from the suite (duh...this is portableapps.com, right?) and let us browse through all the alpha, beta, dev test, pre release canidates and also all of the released apps. Each different section is seperated into different sections like games, internet, utilities and such. Each app also having a discription so the user knows the functions of the apps he is looking it.
I thought this might be useful since as a newer user to portable apps, it might help me find what I need more and also show me what has been released and applications that I might want to try. It might also make it easier for testers to be found since everyone with the app can browse through all the applications that are on or have been posted on this site (all applications including the outdated ones that don't have a follow up).
Also as a new user I don't really know what to try out and what to search for that I might use. Also because of so many forum posts that refer to almost everything in some way, it make it hard to search the forums for different application that I might be searching for.
The features of an app like this would include a downloader that would lead to a valid site of download and would also be integrated with the install a new app (under the options button in platform 1.5.2) so that the app would automatically be installed. This would be very convinient for downloading different apps and also updating and installing at the same time (though a limit would be set so that you can only download say 3 and install 1-3 at the same time). This would help speed things up for those who want to update their portable apps but don't have the time to sit down for a long time to do it.
Though you may say that it may decrease the activity on forums, that is not ture. People will still have to post bugs, new developments and also people will need support or otherwise request apps. This app only allows us to browse through portableapps.com's immensely large collection of portable apps whether released or in dev tesing or beta. It would also allow us to be able to find what we truly want and inprove our portable-apping experience.
I know this will be a big project, and this is rather closer to a request. (and I cannot lend a helping hand rather than testing). I just wanted to see what people thought about it. I have also have no idea how creating such an app is possible (and I haven't heard of any applicaitons that can do these tasks). I thought that this idea would help bring the unknown or long forgotten applications (those that may have been in development and abandoned or otherwise) back into being and also help us find the applications that we are looking for more easily.

no no no...

You didn't get what I was trying to talk about. I was saying that we have an app that is not an updater but a browser like application that shows us what apps there are on www.portableapps.com. Like all the released, and projects in betas that have been released from the time that portable apps was started to today.

Firefox?

Firefox is pretty much what you're asking for.

Actually, I get what you're saying, you want something like Synaptic in Ubuntu (not to be confused with Symantec, makers of the Norton software line). And that's pretty much where the Updater is heading, I think.

Your request and reply are kind of contradictory, but it seems like you want something which is a cross between a web browser and the Updater. More info than the Updater gives but the same kind of thing. With integration, install, and possibly removal options. Like Synaptic. And that's cool, because Synaptic and apt-get and others are features people see in Linux and wonder why Microsoft hasn't done that yet.

Yup.

I think you kind of got the idea I was talking about. I want something similar to the program on ubuntu that allows you to browse through and download different applications from www.portableapps.com.

In that case

In that case, that is basically what the updater is, it's just not at the level of Synaptic yet, but one day it may be.

I would recommend, then, watching its development, or, if you can, offer your help in making it better. If you have those skills, that is. If not - well, I don't either. Suggestions and ideas can be helpful as well, but tread softly, as some can be testier than others.

Alright

I hope it does come to that level some day. I really have no idea of what the website really holds because I don't know where to start searching and what apps to start looking for.
