I am very new in this era. I would like to develop a portable application which restricts users from accessing USB storage files by password. Can anyone help me out on my proceedings?

It's the best option for securing a drive. It works in Win2K/XP only though and requires admin priveledges (ie it won't work when logged in with a "limitted" account)
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I am no expert but I saw this application, could it help with admin rights issues

You still need to know the local Administrators password. On most work PCs or on those thata user would be limited, you do not know the local admin password. So it doesn't really help.

Lexar has a program called JumpDrive Secure. im not too sure if it will work with all drives out there. but i know it works with lexar jumpdrives. lol. id say to chek it out. u can basically split the drive in two parts, one protected, one non protected. not too sure how it works, havent tried it yet.
I was pretty sure "JumpDrive Secure" was the name of the hardware. I used to have one--it comes with special software (that I never used) that allows you secure the drive. I didn't think it would work on any other JumpDrives except for ones labeled "Secure."

Just picked up a 256 for $9, had Secure II software on it. I won't use it, but if anyone wants to mess with it, here it is.

I put my iPod shuffle in for the heck of it and ran the program; "No JumpDrive device found." So yeah, it won't work with all drives.

I have a similar Lexar program for my Lexar Lightning 2Gb flash drive.
The program is called "JumpDrive Lightning" (JD Lightning).
In the help file they say
