When I tried to install JavaPortable I got the error message "Installer is unable to download Java". Of course, first think I did was to check my Internet connection and all was fine. I could even access java.sun.com site and manually downloaded the Java SE Runtime.
My box had Java 6 installed. I guess this is not necessary, but still I decided to uninstall my local copy. It does not work either.
I have the same issue. Can anybody suggest a manual way to copy the necessary files in without using the installer?
if the java life installer does not work, probably due to the download link has changed or so, then use the old way, the portabilizer. This will just pick the local copy of the java.

But you can simply copy the java folder to the java folder on your stick and all is done too. Not more , not less then that.

Thank you. Finally I was able to install it on another PC. It must have been an issue with my computer.
