Linky! Anyway, I have played this before but I don't think it is possible unless it uses your Internet Explorer connection settings and not registry entries. (Which I doubt)
Plus, it's not open source or free.

Puzzle Pirates isn't free? This is news to me; when I played it a few years ago, it was.
In any case, you're right about one thing--it's definitely not open-source. I believe it's made by the same people that make PopCap Games, and PopCap is very much a commercial venture.
It's also very unlikely that YPP (Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates) can be made portable for another reason: last time I checked, it was a Java game. The JRE is most certainly NOT portable.

I didn't think the thing I tried was a demo. Maybe it was. All I know is I remember getting past the offline introductory part, and once I was into the online part of the game, everyone kept denying my requests to duel so I got frustrated and deleted the game.
