The main Toucan page speaks of incremental backup. I can't seem to figure out how to select that funtion. Is the 'Update' backup equivalent to incremental?

If you point me to a different Toucan forum, I'll ask the question there. So far this is the only Toucan forum I found. I thought at least the developer might be able to answer this. The statement about incremental backups still stands on the Toucan page (https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/toucan)
can indeed reach me here, and I am sorry for the delay in replying, I have been on holiday for a week, I must have just missed your comment!
In answer to your question the page is indeed out of date, I have updated it now, it should have said differential and not incremental. Incremental support is most certainly still on the to-do list, I have not yet quite managed to make it work though.
Ah yes, the terrifying task of catching up after a vacation, I hate that. Thanks for the update. Although I've been using the differential method rather well, I'm definitely looking forward to that feature. Thanks for the impressively useful app as it already stands.
Thank you for working on the incremental backup option. Toucan and differential backups are great already but when incremental backups become a part of it, Toucan can replace 100% of my backup software. Great stuff. I'm moving closer to open source on everything!
