How hard would it be to figure out what the Microsoft Autoplay Repair Tool does and have the Platform do the same?
The disk checker in 2.0 beta 3 is good, but I'm thinking in the future, the Platform should have a set of utilities that will help and assist the common denominator among Platform users. The disk check, as well as backup, restore, and the forthcoming updater could just be a start.

Patches have been released to remove the autoplay functionality from XP and Vista and doesn't work naively in Win 7.
The issue/question posted by the original poster is dead (IMO).
