Thunderbird 3 Beta 3 request

Hi. Can we get an official Thunderbird 3 Beta 3 build please. I'm currently running beta 2 and I think there are several bugs in the current release that hopefully will be resolved in the beta 3.

Thanks much. Appreciate it.

where?

did you have it from? here the version is 20022, no 3 yet. They seldom do produce portables from beta versions here.

We Will

We do the betas for the Mozilla apps often for testers. So we have 3.0 Beta 2 of Thunderbird up on the site. Beta 3 has just been a little delayed as I was at OSCON and then catching up since I got back.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

We understand, John.

Thanks for the reply; we look forward to the release Wink

Best regards, GD

A fresh install required

I did an upgrade from 2.0.0.22 but 3B3 would not open. Process list showed it starting then dying.

Fresh install to new directory resolved problem.

Windows XP SP2.
No Admin rights.

BTW: Is there an easy way to import the old Thunderbird emails into the new version? Import does not cater for it.

Jeff.

Found a Workaround

I had the same problem, after a bunch of random fiddling, I found that if I deleted XPC.mfl, XUL.mfl, and xpti.dat in my profile folder, thunderbird would start.

I've delete the XPC.mfl and

I've delete the XPC.mfl and xpti.dat and have search the entire ThunderBird folder for XUL.mfl and can not find it. TB3B3 still doesn't run, any ideas as to how I can move my old data to 3B3

just install it over the old version ...

or since this is a beta/test for you, I'd make a backup copy of the file, then install the beta over one of them, directly. Once the program starts, it should repopulate all the folders the same way the old TBP did.

Though the instructions mention installing it along side your old version, and the test versions are meant to have both, this is the standard process of all the programs here from this website.

RE: just install it over the old version ...

I had done that already (I make a copy every time I install a new ver. just in case) but that did not work.

I'll install it and try to find the file location ...

as I haven't tried the updated yet. Gimme a moment.

Okay, it installed fine on me. (for folks who haven't done it yet)
It made a new folder called "Thunderbird Portable Test" in the same directory that has App, Data, Other, ThunderbirdPortable.exe etc
I copied the Data folder and put it in the Thunderbird Portable Test folder, just let it replace everything.

Opened up using the ThunderbirdPortable.exe in the Test folder, and everything is there, all the local folders, settings, etc. The Theme is the default one, and some of my add-ons don't work, but that is to be expected.

and I found xul.mfl as a file in the Data/profile area.
