Problem on USB drive

I've been using Portable Firefox for a year or so with no problems so decided to install it on a second USB stick but after installing it with the same extensions as the other & my main Firefox I removed the drive & each time that I put it back in later to use it & tried to run FF again I got the crash report & each time I tried to choose to restart FF from that the crash report just kept opening again, Quit Firefox is the only option that works so I deleted the Portable Firefox folder off the drive & reinstalled again but the same thing just happened again, I've tried three times & have just deleted the folder again, everything else on the drive works but it just seems to hate the Portable FF, I've still got the original USB but wanted a back up one.

wait

so by reinstalling do you mean copying and pasting from the one flash drive to the other? Or do you mean that the your installing from the PA installer? Have you tried just running a fresh copy of FFP without addons? it might be one of those that is causing the problem. I had that happen to me when I downloaded a google chrome theme and it just crashed and never opened again.

I installed it from the PA

I installed it from the PA installer each time & I didn't use any add-ons that I don't have on the other older stick or on my PC, the first time I had all the same add-ons as the others & then the two times after that I just had Adblock Plus, Tab Mix Plus & Xmarks add-ons.
All of my music & photo files on the stick are fine it's just Firefox that's giving me grief on it, I'll bite the bullet & try yet again with no add-ons & see what happens.
My other USB stick with FFP & my ipod both work fine in the USB port.

I tracked the problem to the

I tracked the problem to the Tab Mix Plus extension when I realised that the version number was different to what works on my PC & other USB stick, I got a dev build that's compatible & all's well now.
It would have saved me a lot of head banging if it had given me some notice that it wasn't compatible before not allowing FFP to load again.

did you disable

firefox checking for compatibility in about:config? Because I think that normally, Firfox will tell you when you try to download the add-on that its not compatable.

Actually that normally

Actually that normally happens but for some reason it didn't inform me each time I installed Tab Mix Plus this time but maybe if I'd been able to start Firefox the next time I put the stick in & tried to start it I would have been given notice.

Simple solution

don't install tab mix plus.

You don't really even need it.

Need vs. want or enjoy

PyromaniacSimple solution:

don't install tab mix plus.

You don't really even need it.

Sure, it's not needed, but then, what extension is needed? Even Adblock Plus is just nice to have, it's not really needed. One does not really even need Firefox, either. We could all be using the default web browser on our computer.

I could say that nobody really needs a computer to start with, but that's pushing it. But where do you draw the line between what you need and what you just want? To not use something you want to use and can use is a sacrifice, not a solution.

Yeah

but addons like ABP and WOT are there to for convinience.
Sure, you could argue that TMP is also for convinience but if you really use so many tabs that you need that addon, firefox will be really slow, especially FFP. The more tabs you have, the slower firefox goes.

Isn't it better to not have an addon that crashes firefox than to have one that does?
