[Bugs] PeaZip Portable 2.6.3

Sorry to say that John, but that release makes me sad. I appreciate all your work and it's really cool that you've updated all official apps, but the quality is falling.
Let me quote some known bugs:

JTHThere are still a couple bugs, though. The one Bart mentioned about PROGRAMEXECUTABLE vs DEFAULTEXE. And the installer doesn't preserve the ACE plugin if the user has added it

Bart.SIf you use the unace-Plugin within PeaZip Portable, it'll create the key [HKLM\SOFTWARE\ACE Compression Software\ActiveAce\2.0], which contains the values "Count", "Name", "Size".
Neither PeaZip itself nor the PeaZip Portable launcher take care of the key.

Bart.SChange App\Peazip\res\altconf.txt: You could replace it with a relative path to the settingsdirectory (..\..\Data\settings). Then you could delete some code from your launcher. There is no need to rename all the settings files. (makes it easier)

Furthermore the launcher adjusts not all paths in files and some other small things.
Sad, really sad. Not the fact that PeaZip Portable has bugs, everyone makes mistakes. But it's really sad that bug reports and improvement suggestions were ignored. I offered an improved launcher (without registry handling), but noone was interested.
I personally give up now, I'm tired of typing things again, and again, and again.... (I think I posted in most of the PeaZip threads) I will use my own PeaZip Portable and improve that further.

Relax

Bart, there's no reason to be overdramatic. I'm in the process of updating apps that some devs have let languish for 6 months. There are no bugs in the PeaZip Portable current launcher itself, it just doesn't handle the closed-source ACE plugin or portablize it, which is a severe outlier case (ACE is a proprietary, Windows-only format with an adware-laden installer and hasn't been updated in over a year... and is exceedingly uncommon... there's basically no reason to use it).

I missed the current pre-release of PeaZip when I was repackaging it, so I'm sorry if I stepped on Zach's toes with it, but I was just trying to get it done along with all the other outdated apps. And, Bart, while your simplification bits are great, they hadn't been tested, so they were absolutely not a candidate for a quick release.

A great thing would be if Bart and Zach could get the launcher in shape for the next release or possibly a Rev 2. Once it's out and has been properly tested, we'll do it.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I'm relaxed

The last pre-release was your release. And you said yourself "There are still a couple bugs, though", and they are still there.

JTHAnd, Bart, while your simplification bits are great, they hadn't been tested, so they were absolutely not a candidate for a quick release.

Hadn't been tested from others, that's right, but I'm using my launcher since version 2.2 (one year). And I offered it in June, so there was enough time for testing.
And btw., who is the Bart you are talking about? 8)

Again

As I said "I missed the last pre-release" when I was packaging... ie, I didn't see that thread and built from the previously-released copy of PeaZip. Doesn't matter if it was mine, I missed the thread, so I built from the last official release.

So, yes, ACE is still a bug... the only one in it... and I don't know that it's important enough to do a re-release as it's not part of the official release and a pretty dead format, anyway.

You may have tested it, but that doesn't mean it would fall down and break on someone else's PC config. Like I said, get together with Zach and work on it for the next launcher. Or, if he doesn't want to do it, you can take it over.
