Learned something new, lost something... maybe important, I don't know.
I found the "Customize Interface" box, and was having some fun changing the "raised" icons to the "flat" ones, taking stuff off I don't need, adding a couple things, etc... well, nothing on that box about the menu bar, but I close it, it takes my changes, and takes away the menu bar. And put a black box with a big VLC logo (like a paused video, maybe) between the title bar and the controls.
I can still do everything I did before, but it's very strange not having the menu bar. Anyone know how I can go about getting it back?
Try control h
or
Right click, View, uncheck Minimal View

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
Ironically, last night I didn't think to just restart it. That's all it took. Fired it up and it had the menus. CTRL+H and Minimal View hide the menus and the controls. Last night, I had just the controls with no menu.
Maybe it'll have accepted my changes to the fullscreen controls as well - those didn't take last night, but the regular controls did.
VLC's always been a buggy program, but it's still the best at what it does. Heard there was a way to portablize MPC and a codec pack (e.g. K-Lite's) but since discovering VLC's EQ, I'm hooked. Makes TV shows and movies much more enjoyable with headphones.
