Is it possible to modify the PTB launcher to allow multiple profiles. What I mean is, to let the profile chooser come up at startup, and allow me to choose from different profiles, say:
Friends & Family
School
Work
Junk
I know, it seems kinda redundant as PTB can have many accounts, but with all of my accounts, It is getting pretty sluggish, even with compacting, and it is way way way too cluttered. I'm, as you know, a little OC, and it would be nice if I could contain things in different profiles for organizational purposes.
And if it's not too much to ask of you, John, maybe the same option for PFF?

Another, easier question (probably) is, could there be a way to pass the -profilemanager parameter to the firefox.exe through the launcher exe? This seems simpler, as it doesn't have to be used, just an option to send command line parameters through. Then the parameter could easily be set up in PStart.
Thanks and I'd appreciate any info if there is currently a way to do this.

I've been experimenting with passing parameters like this through the ini, but so far, no dice. I do, however, have some success with passing parameters through the simple launcher Deuce made, so I'll see if I can make a special mod of John's launcher, and post it later. 'K?

When you use the -profilemanager switch, it creates all the profiles on the local machine.
By the way: all switches passed to PortableFirefox.exe are passed through to firefox.exe, plus any additional parameters you specify in PortableFirefox.ini.

I have no witty remarks or quotes to share at the moment.
I tried that Bruce (switch to PFF.exe), and it didn't work. It didn't open the profile manager. I'll play around with it a bit more later, see if I can figure out if I did something wrong.
EDIT: And thank you very much Ashes, I appreciate that.

I bet I know why, too. PortableFirefox.exe launches firefox.exe with the -profile switch (to tell FF where to store your profile files), which is likely mutually exclusive to -profilemanager (which always puts the profiles in Documents and Settings).
What I'm trying to say is that you can use -profile or -profilemanager, but not both. PFF always uses the -profile switch, which precludes the ability to use the profile manager. Blame the Firefox developers for that one.

Those Bastards! heheh.
I'm wondering, I was looking at the launcher source, and saw the -profile parameter in several places, maybe if I changed it to -profilemanager and recompiled?

You can try, but you'll also have to change some other stuff. PFF actually passes -profile "<profiledir>" so you'll have to look at the code more carefully than you have and make sure it only passes -profilemanager, not -profilemanager "<profiledir>".
You know that using -profilemanager will store your profiles on the local machine, thus defeating the purpose of PFF, right? I thought I made that abundantly clear already, but I just want to make sure you know...

Yeah, thats why I made the original request, to see if John could come up with a way use them from usb. But I had forgotten, I guess. Thanks for the reminder. Aw, hell, if it comes down to it, I'll just just have multiple copies, ya know? I have 80GB to use up, and am currently using only 17 (MP3's and my Family Guy episode Rips, I have seasons 1-4 complete, but 5 I'm having trouble getting all of. Mainly because I don't use XP mkedia center anymore.) Gotta love WD Passport Harddrives.
