Application Icon

I've got T-Bird and Firefox working on my jump drive. For FF, the application Icon was sent to the main window of the jump for easier access. It works. However, doing the same for T-Bird doesn't. An error message comes up saying to reinstall to fix the problem (it doesn't). Is this the way Portable T-Bird is or is there a workaround? I'd appreciate any feedback. Hope everyone had a nice Labor Day weekend. D Jones

main window of the jump?

Do you mean the task bar in Windows 7 and pinning? If so, that is incompatible with portable software.

Vista here...

Hello John. I'm using Vista. On the jump drive is the Portable FF and T-bird folders; inside each is the launch app icon. For FF, I can send the launch icon to the main window of the jump drive and load FF without navigating inside the FF folder. I can't do the same process with T-bird. The 'sent' icon from the T-bird folder to the main jump window doesn't connect to the T-bird folder and a window pops up saying to reinstall the app which might fix the problem, it doesn't.

Still Not Sure

Still not sure what you're saying by 'main jump window'. If you mean you're moving the launchers around (FirefoxPortable.exe and ThunderbirdPortable.exe) to the root with the FirefoxPortable and ThunderbirdPortable directories in there, that's not supported without using the INI file and manually specifying it. It was a long time ago in many apps, but it was dropped and removed from the documentation. I think Firefox Portable may still have the code for it in the launcher but it'll probably be dropped when the launcher is simplified at some point.

It's best to keep the app together, that way it can be easily upgraded by the installer, app+launcher+everything else, without needing to manually move stuff around.

Gotcha. I thought the main

Gotcha. I thought the main menu of a jump drive was like a desk top with all the folders and such. FF must still have the ability because the link works while T-Bird doesn't. Thanks for clearing it up.
