Simplified Installer?

Today, I will nag about:

  • Clicking Next a lot is a little annoyance, but can really kick you hard.
  • It would be great to just click Install.
  • Would it be hard?
  • For those who want to customize, clicking a check mark isn't much effort.
  • For those who didn't install the platform, it could show the "Where to Install" box automatically.
  • For those who get frustrated, there can be a menu option or something.

The Nagging:
After installing a whole slew of apps to my new flash drive, I'm pretty frustrated. I'm really just clicking Next>Next>Install, and waiting. After experiencing a Linux install, it gets really frustrating. Would it be possible to perhaps simplify the installer so that the people who want to get started can just double click and click install, and to let people who want to adjust stuff to simply check a box? Or would that take a while to code (considering the level of spaghetti code implemented in NSIS--C feels like heaven)?

Yes

I had that question too but now I do the following:

Either I just install them from the platform. That saves some 2-3 pages/ok-clicks.
Or I just open them all and just hit enter every time I see I need to and do something else in the mean time.

Updater

The updater will be able to bypass most of the installers entirely. Those that require options (like checking if you want non-English) will remember what you picked on updates. So, in that context, you won't need to interact with most of them.

As for running them solo, they work like any normal Windows installer, as they should.

Soon

It's coming in the next beta release of the platform. It'll be announced on the homepage.
