Video Card Suggestions?

Hello All. I'm looking to buy a new video card and was wondering if any of you had any suggestions. What I need is something midrange in price, with decent performance for the price. PCI-Express Bus, preferably 256mb vram or higher. I'm partial to ATI based cards, and was wondering if any of you had experience with the X700, X1300, or X1600 cards? If you know a good card from nvidia, don't be shy, as I go with what works best. Any of your experiences with midrange PCI-E cards would be helpful.

Thanks All!

EDIT: CLARIFICATION: By mid-range price I mean from $175-300.

Nvidia

Well I'm a big Nvidia fan so I'll give it a try, what about a 7900gt, from what I've heard (e.g. A mate who had both) the Nvidia simply blows the ATI card away. Mainly because its based on their top end card I guess. Quiet and low power use as well. You can get them for about $270. If you want something cheaper you could always try the 7600, it's pretty good and a replacemnet for the 6600gt, a card of which I have one of.

Which ATI card does it blow

Which ATI card does it blow away? I know nvidia gets great performance, but in my experience (several pcs with ATI and nvidia cards) ATI seems to give better quality. I also like ATI's driver suite. And they can be very fun to overclock. My current card, a 9800, is VERY overclockable. But, I'll give nvidia it's fair chance and do some research. Do you recommend any specific manufacturer? I've had trouble building a couple of budget gaming systems for friends with 3rd party 6600's. But hey, they chose the components, I just build em.

x1600

From what I've heard. PNY has always been good to me, but you do hear bad comments every so often. I guess that really its all much of a muchness. If you like to ATI drivers, go ATI and overclock.

Well, I've been looking at

Well, I've been looking at tigerdirect and newegg and comparing, and the ATI X1600PRO is looking like a candidate. Price, and decent but not spectacular reviews, but crossfire support, and I am planning on a new mobo in a few months, prolly one of the Crossfire/Conroe boards. I'm gonna look at some nvidia cards though, and I guess some mobos.

EDIT: I missed this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102624R

and $299.99 to boot! Thats a high candidate.

There's

Always SLI, more popular than Crossfire. We have an SLI board and although we only have one card (at the mo) is has some serious performance. Its an Asus board.

Heh, I'm looking at Asus SLI

Heh, I'm looking at Asus SLI Boards as we speak on newegg. Lots of good reviews. I might just break brand loyalty. But a new problem arises. I need a new Processor! Wahhhhhh!!! ::cries:: I don't have enough money. Maybe I'll wait. But I want that X1800, too. Damn it, I'm confuzzled.
