about the built-in wallpaper swapper

i can't use it i follow the guide lines but it doesn't work please help

Pictures Folder.

Okay, step by step.

  1. Go to the Pictures folder on your drive.
  2. Put the picture you want to use there.
  3. Rename it to
    portableapps_wallpaper.bmp
  4. Unplug your drive, and plug it back in.
  5. Smile.

I think you actually have to

I think you actually have to SAVE the file as a bmp and not just rename it, and it doesn't appear to work on windows2000.

when I get a chance I will try it out on my XP

Yes must be bitmap

Yes, to confirm, it must be a bitmap. Just about any image software, including MS Paint, can save as bitmap. 24-bit if you're given the choice (though I'm not sure it matters, but an 8-bit bitmap will severely degrade your image).
