Repository Installer

Hello, It's only a request. What about getting new programs and installing they directly from the portableapps plataform? Like most linux distros do.

Coming

This is due to come in the next release of the PortableApps.com Platform, due any time now.

Good idea but won't that

Good idea but won't that change the file format?

Don't think so

I don't think this would necessitate the change of the file format. It simply means PA.c is forced to maintain a database of applications and version numbers, and the user side will have to do something similar. Version numbers can always be obtained from EXEs, INIs or other text files so this shouldn't be a huge problem, just a bit of a maintenance burden on the PA.c side of things.

No

The Platform just downloads the portable application installer and runs it (with a special switch so that it just upgrades without bothering the user for where to install it and all).
